We always want to be us in that next place of winning. Why? Humans are addicted to developing. I wish I could be addicted to the moment. Not the version of me when I reach the next goals but me right now.
We have a secret internal code that says success is good and sickness and sadness is bad. But could I offer you this truth? They’re all just apart of life. If your depressed you’re not a moral failure. (Got that line from my therapist!)
Could I tell you that success itself looses its value unless you’ve been in very opposite places? And the longer and harder you’re in the pit the more success means. Better, the more it changes its definition to what you thought was success to what God deems success over your life.
We need these lessons honestly because if you don’t humble yourself, your success probably benefits nothing and no one but your ego. But always trust that God is more faithful than your feelings.
Learn the lessons first. Don’t rush Father Time. Or Father God. It’s okay to be where you are. If you need help, get help. If you have to mourn, shed the tears. When GOD is ready He will bring you where you need to be. No decrees of the human tongue can force Gods hand. No method of breakthrough can magically shift. If God has placed you in a pit you better learn the lesson and I can guarantee apart of the lesson ultimately is depending on nothing but God.
Even more is the weight of success and glory. We’re asking to box in a match we haven’t prepared for and when your heavenly-coach forces you to workout some more it shows were not ready when you want to throw in the towel.
Preparation, preparation. When you give your life to God what was a series of bad events turns into preparation. And not always for success. That’s the sugar coated version. All these speakers want to tell you, you went through the bad stuff to get to the good stuff. Life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes you go through bad stuff only to face even worse stuff. I don’t know why. But God does. I don’t have the plan for your life but God does. And we know that his ways are not our ways, his versions of wisdom are higher than any humans speaking these things. So stop putting your hope in those preaching and speaking and go to God. And if you can’t trust that I’d like to say good luck on taking on the cycles of life alone.
If improvement and success is your ultimate goal it could be an idol and you will be a cat chasing its tail. Improve in the truth of God, improve in how deep you can go with the spirit, improve in advancing the kingdom.
So who are you in this moment? With the emotions and set backs of the you reading this right now. With that version of you, I’m begging you pursue God at all cost. He is the only one who can show you the way, give you peace, and make wrongs right.
To God be all the glory.
